Ultimate Custom Night
The ultimate mashup of the Five Nights at Freddy’s series, Ultimate Custom Night adds a lot of customization to the gameplay. Download Ultimate Custom Night and choose from up to 50 animatronics to hide from.
FNAF has managed to become one of the most famous series of survival-horror video games without any kind of expensive video effects. In fact, its simplistic graphics support the overall ominous atmosphere and make animatronic jumpscares even more terrifying. Ultimate Custom Night doesn’t change that minimalistic spirit, leaving the game’s graphics completely unchanged. Some may find that disappointing, but definitely not the true fans of the franchise.
The first installment of the famous series was mostly praised for its gameplay which revolutionized the horror genre with a less-is-more approach, and sequels made it almost perfect. Ultimate Custom Night looks like the final, most refined installment of the series with its outstanding customizability. Now you can choose from up to 50 animatronics from all the previous games and set their difficulty levels precisely from 0 to 20.
This feature allows players to make a night more manageable by selecting a particular kind of characters. For example, you can choose only animatronics that can be lured by sounds, such as Happy Frog or Pigpatch. But there’s always a chance that Dee Dee will appear and add a new enemy anyway, and that makes the game so unpredictable and difficult. There’s even 50/20 mode, in which you are left with all 50 possible animatronics all set on the highest difficulty level.
Ultimate Custom Night, like the other FNAF games, doesn’t have any tutorial for a new player, and it is true for controls as well. Night after night, you have to use only trial and error method to determine what can help you keep wandering animatronics at bay. But it’s a point-and-click game after all, and you can always figure it up after a dozen defeats. And then you will find them responsive and pretty comfortable.
Replay Value: 4.5
The game, as all the previous installments of the series, has pretty good replay value. With the gameplay this exciting, your only limit for subsequent runs is really just the strength of your nervous system. The AI can be too predictable sometimes, and once you master tracking them, it isn’t so much fun anymore. But all the UNC customization options make sure it won’t become boring for a long, long time.
The Bottom Line
This Ultimate Custom Night review may look like it regards the game suitable only for the most seasoned of FNAF players, but it isn’t quite right. Sure, it helps to be accustomed with all that animatronics management routine, but with the possibility of lowering difficulty down to 0 it welcomes even those who’ve never before heard of Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza.
